Onboarding Survey Instruments#
Structure#
POPROX sends weekly surveys to users. When users first enroll, they are sent two on-boarding surveys about how they read and think about news. Once these survey are completed, users begin receiving surveys about their POPROX experience.
Note that it is a required for the POPROX platform IRB that no free text input is allowed. All questions are choices from a fixed set of options.
Instrument O1: News Motivation#
First prompt: Please indicate how much you agree with each statement about your motivation to read the news.
Questions:
I like reading new articles that show how different kinds of people look at or are impacted by things.
I like reading news articles that show how different kinds of people look at or are impacted by things.
I like reading news articles that help me keep up with topics that are of special concern to me.
I like reading news articles that are practically useful in my life.

Second prompt: Please indicate how much you agree with each statement about your trust in the news from the Associated Press (AP).
Questions:
The media pay the necessary attention to important topics.
The media provide all of the important information regarding current topics.
Media reports recount the facts truthfully.
Journalists’ conclusions are the result of thoughtful reflection.
